Are you one of the millions of Americans suffering from daily gut-related symptoms?

I was one of those millions – suffering for years. Gas, bloating, cramping, constipation, diarrhea, and heartburn ruled my life.

While this may be your reality (like it is for many of the people I meet with on a regular basis), you don’t have to live this way. It is possible to heal your gut and improve your digestive health.

I did it! Now it’s your turn.

6 Ways To Heal Your Gut & Improve Your Digestive Health

When I was told I had Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), I left my doctor’s office with medication. Yet, I still suffered for many years. As a matter of fact, I struggled with gut issues for almost 30 years.

Knowing what I know now, we can actually get to the root of the problem instead of attempting to mask the symptoms. When someone comes to me with an IBS diagnosis, I know they likely have any of the following:

  • Leaky gut syndrome or intestinal permeability
  • Pathogens such as parasites, bacteria, yeast, or fungus
  • Food sensitivities or allergies

And these are only the gut-related issues many clients suffer from!

If IBS goes on long enough, the problems only get worse. By the time a person reaches me, they usually have some other diagnosis along with IBS that may or may not be related to the digestive system.Tired of the trial and error in correcting your digestive symptoms? The Key To Improving Your Digestive Health

Digestion starts with the food you consume on a regular basis. Our bodies require certain vitamins, minerals, and amino acids to function properly. And we get these vital nutrients from whole foods.

When we eat a lot of packaged and processed foods, the digestive system breaks down – leading to poor health. Once this happens, you can expect other health issues to occur.

But what if eating whole foods can solve all your problems?

The truth is, it totally works for some people.

But what if eating whole foods doesn’t work for you?

How To Improve Your Digestive Health

If healing your gut is important to you, then keep these 6 tips in mind to start living a full life without chronic digestive health issues.

1. Avoid Unnecessary Anti-Inflammatories

The next time you’re feeling a little off, don’t be so quick to consume anti-inflammatory medication. The reason being, they thin the lining of your gut. Instead, there are natural remedies that you can take instead as an anti-inflammatory (i.e. Boswellia Phytosome).

2. Don’t Rely On Antacids

While antacids do usually make things better in the short term, they actually worsen symptoms in the long term. This is because antacids interfere with hydrochloric acid production. Moreover, most indigestion is related to low stomach acid, not high. Understanding what’s causing your acid reflux or pain is key.

Apple cider vinegar (ACV) is a good way to test your acid levels at home. If you have regular indigestion after meals, then simply take a tablespoon of ACV in water about 20 minutes before meals. This can help by improving hydrochloric acid production. After trying this method, if you notice an improvement in indigestion, then you likely have low acid.

Furthermore, stomach acid naturally decreases with age. So I teach my clients a way to self-test on a yearly basis once they complete a full gut restoration program.

3. Reduce Stress

Stress not only weakens the intestinal lining, but it negatively impacts almost every organ system in the body. Studies have shown over and over how stress causes breakdowns in our system(s).

My clients complain that digestive issues are worse during high-stress times. One of my favorite ways to calm the nervous system and improve bowel movements is by using castor oil packets. This one is my favorite.

4. Don’t Mix Grains And Fruit

If you must eat grain, do not combine it with fruit. Eating these two foods together can cause fermentation. This leads to gas and bloating.

If you have a weakened gut lining or an overgrowth of bacteria or yeast, then you’re asking for trouble by mixing grains and fruit.Do you need help figuring out which foods are causing you digestive pain and other issues? I can help! I can customize a plan that works for you.

5. Eat The Fresh Fiber On Your Plate First

Raw vegetables require a lot of chewing, which produces digestive enzymes in the mouth. When we eat these, it helps to prepare our bodies to digest heavier foods like meat proteins.

So the next time you look at your plate, choose fiber-rich foods (i.e. vegetables) first.

6. Invest In The Right Tests

Understandably, many of my clients want to see what their food sensitivities are, along with other advanced health markers. This information allows my clients to get the root of their health issues instead of putting out health fires every time they arise. Not to mention, it’s what I’m known for.

Food sensitivity testing is one of the most simple ways to identify and eliminate foods that may be causing inflammation in your body. I wouldn’t say it’s my first go to test, but a lot of the self-healers out there are always asking me about my favorite food sensitivity test. While I only use food sensitivity testing in specific areas, all tests are not all created equal. However, you can access my favorite food sensitivity test here.
