5 Simple Steps To Balance Your Blood Sugar Naturally

5 Simple Steps To Balance Your Blood Sugar Naturally

With the new year settling in and sugary holidays right around the corner (cough Valentine’s Day), let’s talk about your blood sugar.

Has your doctor ever told you that you are insulin resistant?

Or maybe that same doctor has diagnosed you with diabetes?

Regardless of whether you answered, yes or no, imbalanced blood sugar is no joke.

When I was 7 years old, I occasionally fainted in the middle of a normal task – for what seemed like no good reason. However, one morning, my mom called for an ambulance after seeing me passed out on the bathroom floor while getting ready for school. The doctors diagnosed me with hypoglycemia – or low blood sugar.

While that diagnosis was shocking, what they told me next was even scarier. The doctors told me that I would develop diabetes by the age of 30. My grandmother became a diabetic at age 30. And I watched how it destroyed so much of her life. The doctors didn’t tell her what to do or how to change her outcome. Unfortunately, the doctors didn’t tell me how to avoid diabetes either (and I want to shed light on for you today).

Different Types of Diabetes

Before we move on, you need to know that there are two types of diabetes that may impact you if your blood sugar is unbalanced.

Type 1 Diabetes

Type 1 diabetes is an immune response that kills the insulin-producing cells of your pancreas. In order to survive, a type 1 diabetic is required to take insulin every day. The body cannot produce that hormone – insulin. It’s not to say they can’t improve their life with proper nutrition and lifestyle behaviors, but they will still need medication for the rest of their lives.

Type 2 Diabetes

The other type has received a lot of attention throughout the pandemic in its relation to COVID infections and deaths. Type 2 diabetes – the most common type – is a serious epidemic that affects more than 29 million people in the United States today.

A person gets type 2 diabetes when the glucose in their blood is elevated for a prolonged period of time. As a result, there is a dysfunction in the insulin and leptin hormones.

Western Medicine Says You Can’t Balance Your Blood Sugar Naturally

Both types of diabetes cause issues in every organ system of the body.

Although science has come a long way in helping us understand the cause and prevention, there is still a lot of outdated information circling around out there. And unfortunately, your own doctor may be a culprit of spreading this misinformation. The so-called trusted sources they rely on, like the American Diabetes Association, may also be leading you down the wrong path.

Many are diagnosed with diabetes and are told they have to take medication for the rest of their life.

The truth is, mainstream medicine is getting it all wrong.

Diabetes is a lifestyle condition. While it can get worse as we age, there are also preventive and corrective measures we can take. .

Lies Western Medicine Tells You About Your Diabetes Diagnosis

Here are a few lies you’ve most likely been told about your diabetes diagnosis.

Lie #1: You’ll Need To Take Medications Forever.

One of the biggest lies is that you’ll need medication forever, and you will continue to get worse with age. Why are you told this lie? Medical schools and the American Diabetes Association continue to teach this to the next generation of medical professionals. What is not taught is how taking a functional approach with nutrition, exercising, sleeping, reducing stress, removing toxins, and taking the right supplements can completely reverse diabetes.

Of course, this requires that a person continues healthy lifestyle habits, but it’s much better than being sick with a disease that can negatively impact every organ system in the body.

Lie #2: Diabetes Is Genetic.

Another lie is that diabetes is genetic. While diabetes can run in your family and can play a small role in the diseases we inherit, disease processes like diabetes develop because of environmental factors that run in families. This includes diet, toxic habits, viruses, chronic stress, lack of exercise, or other negative lifestyle factors.

As a health and wellness coach, I work with people regularly who reverse diabetes naturally. And I’m living proof blood sugar balance can happen naturally as well!

Lie #3 Medications Stabilize Your Blood Sugar.

Doctors will tell you that medications can stabilize your blood sugar so it’s nothing to worry about. Medications deal with symptoms of the disease, but they never address the underlying cause. This means they are masking the actual problem.

Has your doctor ever told you to watch your sugar intake and take your medication accordingly? And if your sugar is too high you may need a bigger dose?

Is that logically a way to treat anything?

It’s kind of like approaching it as if it were a headache. Skip your Tylenol if you don’t have a headache. Take it if you do.

But diabetes is much more serious than a little headache in most cases.

You will never resolve the problem by covering up the symptom. This is true for any disease process! And this is why conventional medicine gets chronic disease wrong so many times. Blood sugar imbalance means there is a dysfunction in the body somewhere. When you bring hormones into balance and address things like weight gain, inflammation, and other disease processes, the blood sugar can naturally come into balance as well.

5 Steps To Balance Your Blood Sugar Naturally

If you’ve been told you have insulin resistance or diabetes, where do you go from here?

First, know that when you are taking medication for diabetes, this can cause the body to store extra sugar as fat. This will lead to weight gain and cardiovascular problems as well as other health conditions.

Then, diabetic patients spend about $13,000 per year on medical supplies alone. You’re much better off working to heal your body naturally if you’re concerned about the financial impact. So this would be a good time to contact someone like me to allow us to save you a little bit of money this year and give you an opportunity to actually live a healthier life.

1. Consume The Right Types of Carbohydrates

Make sure you’re consuming the right types of carbohydrates. Refined carbohydrates and simple sugars (i.e. processed foods) are going to cause your insulin to rise faster.

Foods higher in fiber, like non-starchy vegetables, actually slow the rate at which insulin is raised.

Eating a large meal can also cause a surge in insulin.

When you learn to balance your plate appropriately with the right amount of carbs, fats, and proteins for your unique metabolism, you will stabilize blood sugar.

If you don’t have it, download my free guide created to help you learn how to eat right for your unique metabolism. Stabilize your energy, mood, and crush food cravings today!

2. Get In Shape

Have you heard the phrase, New Year, new me? The beginning of a year is one where people usually make a mad rush to the gym.

Why do they do that? Because exercise is good for you. If you want to manage your blood sugar, move your body. Exercise creates healthy stress on the body (as long as you’re not overdoing it). It’s one of the most powerful ways to lower leptin and insulin resistance.

Why is this important?

After you eat, insulin transports blood sugar to your fat cells and activates their metabolism, producing the hormone leptin. Leptin signals to the brain that you are full when you’ve eaten enough. It also tells your pancreas to stop producing insulin.

When there is excess amounts of blood sugar, it will eventually be stored as fat. And you will see an elevation in triglycerides. This leads to leptin resistance – which prevents your brain from getting the message that says “I’m full”. The more you eat, the more your triglycerides increase. And the more weight you gain.

So, start moving your body!

3. Sleep Properly

Get proper sleep. I talk about this a lot, but people think sleep isn’t important. That couldn’t be further from the truth! Your body goes through a natural detoxification process through the night. This is why sleep is so important!

Liver detox starts at about 11 p.m. according to Chinese medicine. When there is an imbalance in blood sugar and fat begins to accumulate, it causes damage to the liver. This fat will clog up the liver’s metabolism and reduce its ability to store sugar.

This results in high blood sugar spikes. Many times, those highs cause you to crash between meals, which also leads to you feeling hangry (hungry and angry). This is also why you can wake up with a very high fasting blood sugar level.

Rest is super important to allow the body to heal itself naturally. Your body will go through natural detoxification processes if you are setting yourself up with good sleep habits.

4. Simplify Your Life

Simplify your life, and take a little time for yourself. Stress reduction practices like taking a walk in nature, hugs, laughter, or nurturing positive relationships will take you a long way when it comes to your health.

How does this balance blood sugar?

Very simple. Stress can actually drive up blood sugar and the body.

So focus on yourself this week and start to reduce your stress.

5. Consume The Right Supplements

Take a good multi-vitamin with minerals and/or a healthy green supplement every day. These minerals and nutrients support healthy blood sugar levels.

You also want to make sure that you’re eating nutrient-dense foods instead of white processed foods. If you’re struggling with that, using something like a delicious green powder to help you get in some additional nutrition can go a long way and even help you fight those cravings that lead to further blood sugar and balances.

Why A Natural Medicine Approach Without A Whole Body Approach To Wellness Never Works

Why A Natural Medicine Approach Without A Whole Body Approach To Wellness Never Works

Did you try natural medicines yet they had little to no effect?
Maybe you’ve been to a natural medicine doctor and still didn’t get the results you were looking for.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve had several consultations with clients who told me exactly the same thing. This is a story I sometimes hear when people are talking to me about natural health practices and a root cause approach to healing.
Many people have already been failed by alternative therapies and began to doubt them.
Many people I talk to have already tried a lot of natural things. They’ve changed their diet, started to exercise, and maybe even had a few functional lab tests and they still aren’t getting the results.
This is the typical story I hear…
I did such and such lab tests, took such and such supplements… And they didn’t work.

The Real Problem With A Natural Medicine Approach

Here’s the problem with the natural medicine approach… When you don’t address the root of the condition like toxicity, relationship stress, nutrition, emotional impact, exercise (or lack thereof), then you’re never going to address the real root of the issue.

Hormones Example

For example, if I give you one of my favorite hormone tests called The Dutch Test and we find that you’re in estrogen dominance or estrogen toxicity, we can open up the drainage pathways in your liver to help you detox.
We want to correct those pathways and drain off excess old estrogen to prevent things like DNA damage and breast cancer.
But if you’re constantly exposing yourself to xenoestrogens or fake estrogens that are in our environment in the form of toxins, then it doesn’t matter how many pills and potions I give you… When we stop the treatment, the symptoms will return. And many times, they may never even go away, and you may never find hormone balance.

Taking A Whole Body Approach To Wellness

I went through this cycle for many years, yet I had no improvements. I remember being on bioidentical hormone therapy and wondered why these pills and potions didn’t work for me. Why did I need to increase my dose every time I went? Why were my hormones not coming into balance?
Those were the wrong questions.
Those therapies were only one piece of a very big puzzle.
Part of the issue is that when you receive an external source of hormones, then your own hormone production tends to get lazy. Your body is, naturally, going to do the easiest thing possible.
A huge piece of the wellness puzzle is the lifestyle factors that may be preventing you from reaching your fullest health potential.
I know for me, that was the case. Whenever I achieved the end result of my personal issue, much of that was related to toxicity and issues with my gut.
This is the reason it is so important to take a whole body approach to wellness.

Doing The Detective Work To Find The Root

When we look at simple hormone imbalance and something like PCOS or polycystic ovarian syndrome, we’re going to see that the hormones are out of balance. But it’s not really a hormone issue. The driving forces behind these diseases are actually inflammation and abnormally high blood sugar, but your doctor is going to prescribe you hormones. The problem with this approach is it treats the symptoms but never addresses the underlying or root cause.
Lab tests are only one part of the detective work. We have to look at your history, your environment, and your body. Are you being exposed to chemicals and toxins or mold? Are you even able to digest and absorb nutrients?
Sure, we can run a simple lab test and see what it comes up with. But without a proper interview with you and the education to understand how your lifestyle factors impact you (positively or negatively), then you may never get well. When you’re attempting to follow natural healing protocols, this is often the biggest missing piece. That’s also why so many people suffer for years when they try to trial and error it on their own.
When you operate in this manner in an attempt to save money, you’re prolonging your wellness results. You’re not going to get a full understanding of how your body truly functions and how you need to approach it in a systematic way if you don’t have the education to do that.

Looking At The Whole Picture To Find Wellness

When you hire a professional who will look at the whole picture, you’ll be able to find wellness in time.
You don’t want someone looking at individual pieces of the puzzle – separate from one another.
You want someone who is willing to do the detective work and determine what pieces of the puzzle apply to you. This allows them to address the root causes of your issue so that you can live in health and happiness instead of chasing symptoms.
If you want a detective, learn how I help clients uncover the whole picture of their wellness.
Someone recently asked me to run a simple lab test with them and interpret it instead of going through my program. While you may get some answers going that way, it still never addresses the root of the condition. And if you want to experience a whole body approach to wellness, you must address the root. Let’s discover the root cause for your unwellness and find healing together!

4 Common Objections To Natural Medicine (And The Tough Love You Need To Hear)

4 Common Objections To Natural Medicine (And The Tough Love You Need To Hear)

I meet a lot of people who are working on their health at varying degrees.

Some people even say they’re willing to do anything to get well.

But when it comes down to it, anything doesn’t mean anything

This blog is a little bit of tough love mixed with truth. As a health and wellness coach, I have to be tough with my clients. While it may be hard to hear, my clients oftentimes tell me how much they appreciate that.

In today’s blog, I’m revealing 4 common objections to natural medicine I frequently hear from business professionals.

Common Objections to Natural Medicine

Here are the most common objections to natural medicine I hear from people on a regular basis. These objections get in the way of potential treatment.

1. Natural Healing Seems Too Simple To Work

The first objection I commonly hear to natural medicine is… It’s too simple to work! They aren’t willing to try simple natural approaches because they seem too simple and natural to work.

Now, I’m not here to push or pressure anything on anyone. But if I make a suggestion and it’s not heard, I’ve learned to accept the fact that they may not be ready. I’m here to help anyone who is willing to help themselves. But that’s about where I draw the line.

I recently talked to a lady with a rare condition; unfortunately, there is no medicine that will treat her condition. Instead of giving her the same runaround her doctors gave here, I encouraged her to do a few simple things at home (including taking other tests to potentially expose the underlying root of her condition). Simple.

God created everything we need to heal our bodies, and He placed it right here on this Earth for us to access. If natural medicine can solve your body’s failing system but Western medicine can’t, then why not look to the things God provided on this Earth?

If you think the simple answer is too simple, then remember this… The simplest explanation may be the best.

(Western medicine often focuses on treating the symptoms. Natural medicine focuses on addressing the root cause. If you want a “simple” process to discover (and then treat) your illness, let’s chatI’m here for you!)

2. I Don’t Have The Money To Invest In Myself

The second objection I hear from people who don’t want to explore natural medicine is “I don’t have the time or money to invest in myself”. People are not willing to invest in themselves.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve met several individuals who are paying over $1,000 for health insurance, and it’s still not getting them the answers they need. As a matter of fact, their health keeps failing. Why? Because they’re not addressing the root cause of their condition. The number of medications are increasing. Their health is worse. And they are being told they need to remove organs (i.e. gallbladder and even their thyroid, etc.).

I have a serious problem with this.

I know the other side of this story – partly because that was my story.

Doctors told me that medication was the only way out of my illness and that I must remove organs.

Thank God I kept all my organs, but I spent many years suffering with medication after medication – not getting well and worse than that, feeling hopeless.

So why do I hear this objection to natural medicine?

Because people justify that they’ve already invested in their health insurance and that should solve their problem.

Many of these same people could see huge transformations if they adjusted their mindset and tried natural medicine.

Yes, it is out of pocket.

Yes, it is an investment.

And yes, you may even have to take out a loan.

Rather watch an 11 minute video with the same information…

But is it worth saving your own thyroid, gallbladder, or kidney from being removed?

These organs are saved every day with natural medicine. And they are removed every day with conventional medicine because instead of addressing the root, conventional medicine says the organ is bad. It’s “causing you problems” so it’s necessary to cut it out.

I’m here to tell you from personal experience from myself with a saved gallbladder and other clients who’ve experienced similar stories with natural medicine. In most cases, these organs aren’t bad.

The lifestyles that have led to diseased organs is the problem.

Once you address the root of the condition, the body can heal itself.

Determine Whether Or Not You Are Worth The Investment

You have to determine whether or not you are worth the investment.

You pay $1,000 a month for insurance that doesn’t work for you. Another $1,000 for a cell phone every one to two years. And you pay a mortgage every month to put a roof over your head. And you have the money to put your child in dance class and karate. You do this because you want a quality life. And there is nothing greater than your health.

Without your health, you have nothing.

Here’s the truth… Health insurance doesn’t cover natural medicine. It is an out-of-pocket investment. You will pay out of pocket for your lab tests, consulting fees, and your care provider’s knowledge. It can cost you thousands of dollars. But it can also save your life.

Is the investment worth it to you?

That’s up to you to decide.

I know for me it was.

3. I Don’t Have Time

Onto the next objection to natural medicine… They don’t have time.

I used to think I didn’t have time for help too – until my health took my time.

Gallbladder attacks that would rob me from going to work. Exhaustion that would prevent me from enjoying time with friends or socially engaging. And brain fog that would keep me stuck on a task for hours when it should have taken a few short minutes. I was constantly cleaning up messes because I couldn’t pay attention.

Some days, I couldn’t even hold on to a water glass. I would walk in my kitchen, and my cabinet doors would be open because I forgot to close them. I would hit the floor crying.

Have you been there?

I was too busy trying to be busy with life to even notice that I didn’t have a life. My time was being robbed because I was going in a circle most of my day.

Have you ever experienced this?

I certainly hope that’s not your story, but you can also prevent that from being your story today too. You have a choice to take care of your health now, or you may be required to take care of it later. The thing with natural health and healing is that it’s great as a preventative. Once the damage is done, it’s a little more difficult to take care of yourself and a lot more work (but it still may be possible to see complete healing).

4. I Don’t Think Natural Health Works For Me

The last of four objectsions to natural medicine is they’ve already tried natural health, and it doesn’t work for them.

Here’s the thing… Most people I meet on a regular basis have gone semi-gluten- and dairy-free. They’ve removed part of the inflammatory foods. Maybe even done over-the-counter so-called detoxes that left them in the bathroom for a week while flushing out their colon (P.S. That is not a detox by the way, and you don’t have to subject yourself to those types of things. That is not natural health.)

You can try all the wonderful things like removing inflammatory foods, exercising on a daily basis, reducing your stress, dealing with relationship issues, and even replacing your medicine cabinet with essential oils. Most of the people I work with have already taken a few good healthy steps in that right direction. But they’re still dealing with chronic pain, headaches, weight and metabolism issues, fatigue, anxiety, and depression.

There is likely an underlying condition that you haven’t addressed.

It doesn’t mean natural medicine and natural health doesn’t work.

It means your limited knowledge or understanding of natural health and medicine is not enough. I told you this blog was going to be a tough love post.

When you work with someone to help you get to the root of your health issues, they can help you investigate things like underlying food sensitivities that may be impacting your nutrition, hormone imbalances, toxicity, closed drainage systems, poor immune health, or cellular damage.

Don’t Give Up on Natural Medicine Yet

These are a few things that natural medicine can investigate for you if diet and exercise is not helping you reach your health goals. Don’t give up on natural medicine if you haven’t given it a real chance. Learn how I approach natural medicine – it’s all about finding the root cause.
